Drumming at Green Gem

Join Eileen for a “Raise Your Vibration” drumming workshop on Friday, July 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at The Green Gem in Bangor.

Learn how to raise positive energy vibrations using the rhythms and techniques of West African hand drumming, led by sound healing guide and drummer Eileen Mielenhausen. This workshop is open to all ages and skill levels and will include time to improvise in a sound healing “drum jam.” Bring a djembe or ashiko if you have one; some extra drums will be available.

Eileen Mielenhausen has been teaching rhythms and leading drum circles since 1997.  She has studied with numerous djembe drummers, including Edgard Gnidehoue of the Ivory Coast, Abdoulaye Sylla and Sayon Camara from Guinea, Ubaka Hill, Barbara Gail, and members of Maine’s Inanna, Sisters of Rhythm. In addition to drumming programs, she also offers individual Reiki and sound healing sessions.

Cost of the program is $30 at the door, or $20 if you pre-register by July 25. The Green Gem Holistic Healing Oasis is located at 900 State St. in Bangor at the William C. Peter estate overlooking the Penobscot River (http://thegreengem.org/).
