“Fanga” Drum and Dance in Sullivan

Celebrate the end of summer with drumming and dancing outdoors on beautiful Taunton Bay in Sullivan. Eileen Mielenhausen and Kim O’Brien will lead a “Fanga” Drum and Dance on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm at 27 Schooner Lane, Sullivan.

Bring your djembe or ashiko and Eileen will teach you the song and several drum parts to the African rhythm “Fanga.” Then Kim will teach you the dance steps to this popular rhythm. Attendees are invited to participate in both the drum and dance portions of this program.

No experience necessary! Some extra drums will be available for those who don’t have one. We’ll end with an improv dance and drum jam.

Cost: $25. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the BARKA Foundation, which brings clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education to Burkina Faso, West Africa. https://barkafoundation.org/
